Computational Storage and the Storage Developer Conference

Today I had the opportunity to speak at the 2018 Storage Developers Conference in Santa Clara, California about deploying computational storage. It was a great opportunity to evangelize to a group of developers about the value of computational storage, and how to successfully deploy computational storage to solve real-world problems. Given the number of presenters talking about NVMe, it was really great to be able to build upon the momentum that they created to explain how computational storage can take high-density NVMe storage to the next level, at least from a usability standpoint in real data centers and for real workloads.

We have commissioned several surveys of end-users to see what they think about computational storage, including what they believe are the greatest barriers to the adoption of computational storage. One of the items that has come up over and over again is the need for relevant application companies to partner with computational storage vendors such as ourselves. It is our goal for this conference to be one of our first steps in kicking off those sorts of discussions with the greater storage community. If you are a developer of applications that are part of the storage ecosystem and we don’t get to talk at SDC this year, please feel free to reach out to me at Thanks!
